Maria Zyla researches twentieth-century Black women´s intellectualism in the Americas. Her project focuses on the life and activism of African-American and Mexican artist Elizabeth Catlett. Maria was awarded the Crossing Latinidades Mellon Fellowship where she worked as a graduate research assistant for the AfroChicanx Digital Humanities Project.
