Maria Zyla researches twentieth-century Black women´s intellectualism in the Americas. Her dissertation revisits and analyzes the life, artwork, and activism of Elizabeth Catlett (1915-2012) as a luminary, transnational black feminist intellectual. Maria was awarded the Crossing Latinidades Mellon Fellowship where she worked as a graduate research fellow for the AfroChicanx Digital Humanities Project.
