Bio

Giovanna earned her BA degrees in History and Art History at the University of California Los Angeles, concluding the program with an honors thesis on the topic of artistic production in Haiti. She then moved to the UK obtaining a Master’s degree in Caribbean and Latin American Studies at University College London, focusing her research on the British elite’s attempts to censor Carnival practices in Trinidad during the 1930s and 1940s. She is a second-year PhD student in the History Department at FIU where she plans to research the history of cultural practices in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
