Degrees and Institutions: BA in North American Studies at the University of Munich; MA in American History, Culture and Society at the University of Munich; and MA in African and African Diaspora Studies at Florida International University 

Advisor: Dr Okezi Otovo 

Melina´s research focuses on Black women´s dieting culture and foodways in the 1970s and 1980s. Her dissertation will explore the establishment, advertisement and implications of a slender body ideal within the Black community during this time.
