Degrees and Institutions: B.A in Anthropology/Sociology, Centre College of Kentucky, M.A in Latin American Studies, University of Florida, M.S in Information Studies, The University of Texas at Austin

Katie L. Coldiron is a four-year doctoral student in the FIU Department of History. She also works as the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Librarian and Outreach Lead for the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) at FIU Libraries. Her dissertation is tentatively titled “Conflict, Contact, and Control: The Rise of Cuban Studies After 1959,” and focuses on the rising research interest in Cuba following the triumph of the Cuban Revolution through the work of actors and institutions both inside and outside of the academy. Her article, titled “The College of Calle Ocho: Miami-Cuban Politics and Florida International University, 1989-2002,” is set to appear in an upcoming edition of the journal Cuban Studies.
