Bio
A Hialeah native, John is transitioning from a non-degree-seeking student into the master program this term. A member of the Florida bar, he found education to be a more rewarding path. A decade in education saw him eventually become the Director of an International School in Shanghai, China, before Covid-19. He is currently working with the Dade Heritage Trust as an educator and, starting this term, is serving as DOHGSA Treasurer. His field of study is the history of U.S.-China relations, with a strong interest in the Shanghai International Settlement and other U.S concession China. He finds the Republican Period of Chinese History particularly fascinating as a glimpse of a world and a U.S.-China relationship that could have been. Apart from history, his passion is traveling with his wife. They spent this past summer in China and France.
