The Department of History offers students pursuing M.A. and a Ph.D. degrees the ability to specialize in a wide range of regions and periods. Students can find information on our offerings in distinct geographic areas via the menu on the left. It should be noted that, in addition to requiring deep training in local and national histories, our Ph.D. program in Atlantic History also encourages students to employ innovative comparative and transnational approaches that transcend traditional historical regions of study. Therefore, students are encouraged to think not only in terms of the regional concentrations listed here but also thematically, by consulting our list of faculty specializations.
