Digitizing Project in Miami Beach Historical Archives gets renewed

In August 2014, a group of FIU historians and archivists began creating the digital archives of Miami Beach. By March of 2015, the month that Miami Beach celebrated its Centennial, the group had processed and digitized more than 8,000 documents. Now, the digital repository contains more than 20,000 images, and the original documents have been safely archived at the Miami Beach City Hall. The City of Miami Beach Historical Archives is home of a rich collection of photographs, postcards, brochures and books of the city of Miami Beach from 1900 to 2015. Mayor Philip Levine and the City's Commission approved the project's extension on October 14.
