On Wednesday Oct. 1 Dr. Ginette Bâ-Curry, scholar of African literature, will visit Prof. Hilary Jones' Junior Seminar on Women and Gender in African History (HIS 3051-U01). Dr. Ba-Curry will speak about the relationship of literature to African history and the role of history in African literature. She is the author of a play called In Search of MaBa. The play focuses on the life of MaBa Diakhou Bâ, a hero of African resistance to French rule in late nineteenth century Senegal who also contributed to the spread of Islam in the region. The class meets from 1:00-1:50 PM in DM 370. Interested faculy and students are welcome to attend the class session.
