Edward E. Baptist teaches at Cornell University, where he is an Associate Professor of History and House Professor-Dean of Becker House. This lecture is on his latest book, which was published by Basic Books in September 2014 and immediately attracted much attention. Its unfavorable review in The Economist was retracted after a positive firestorm of outrage. Consequently, the book has been reviewed in many high-profile non-academic media outlets, and it is also garnering academic kudos as well.
